iSync Phone Plugins for the Sony Ericsson K800i

December 3, 2006: I explained How to enable Apple’s iSync to work with your Sony Ericsson K800i. Since iSync didn’t provide native support for my new Sony Ericsson K800i, I used the 23-PhonePlugin-SE available from isync-hilfe.de.

January 21, 2007: Johan states in a comment that there’s a better PhonePlugin to go with:

I’ve just been comparing the hilfe.de K800i Plugin, with the one available from mobile.feisar.com and noticed some important differences:

The isync-hilfe.de one:

  • only syncs 1 email address from the Macs Address Book to the phone
  • syncs the Work address into the Home address field on the phone(!)
  • shows some nasty ‘Donate $10′ text in the isync window for the phone icon

The feisar one:

  • syncs Home, Work & Other email addresses to the phone
  • correctly syncs both Home & Work addresses into the correct fields on the phone
  • shows a proper icon of the K800 in iSync!

I guess you get what you pay for!!

I added some markup for easier understanding to the quote.

When I first searched for a PhonePlugin that makes iSync support my new K800i, I found this one via Google — but paying the £1.49 via PayPal somehow didn’t work and I continued searching. I found another plugin at isync-hilfe.de and since it worked well for me, I decided to go for it.

After Johan’s comment however I tried another time to buy the feisar plugin — and it worked. Since it works really well and I now have multiple email addresses on my phone an a nice K800i icon in iSync, I ditched the old plugin I used.

Oh well, and there’s something on the mobile’s screen now — I didn’t get any visual syncing feedback from the phone before:
