GTD on the Mac — with Ghost Action
I tried and used numerous to do list applications to optimise my workflow á la GTD (Getting Things Done). I started with Ta-Da-Lists and used large project management tools such as Basecamp not only to collaborate with others on certain projects but even for single to dos.
As I found out that I can easily sync my mobile phone’s task list with iCal to have access to everything on the go, I combined iCal with dashboard widgets like DoBeDo that make it easier to interact with your to dos in a fast way — editing to dos in iCal isn’t that convenient to me.
For the last few months I used Actiontastic to handle my GTD — the possibility to sync it with iCal gets you the best of both worlds: Easy GTD processing in Actiontastic and syncing with whatever device you can sync via iSync.

Yesterday I read about Ghost Action over at Manuela’s Surfgarden — it’s biggest advantage in comparison with the previously mentioned Actiontastic is it’s potential to prioritise each action. On the other hand I can’t quicksilver new actions to Ghost Action — it’s possible to enter an action into a Quicksilver text field and execute Send to Actiontastic.
Anyhow, for now I replaced Actiontastic with Ghost Action — I can send actions via Quicksilver directly to iCal and Ghost Action syncs automatically with iCal (Actiontastic did not yet, I had to sync manually), so that’s no bigger problem. But I’ll keep an eye on Actiontastic as well…
Bloggers: Until 28th of February you can get a license for free!
Update: Generally speaking Actiontastic and Ghost Action do the same — at the moment Ghost Action is of a little more use for me because I don’t have to click away a reminder at startup that tells me that it’s beta software and because I don’t have to sync it manually with iCal.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but I was definitely under the impression that you can add due dates to actiontastic.
Whooops… I was wrong — I updated the post.
At the moment Ghost Action is of more use to me, and I have a full license. I’ll nevertheless keep an eye on Actiontastic, not least because of it’s great Quicksilver support and upcoming features such as the corresponding web app Actionatr.
