PicLens: Cinematic Views for the Web

Using Safari? Do you often find yourself flipping through a picture set on flickr or doing google image searches?

I often wished for something to download the high-res versions of the pictures in a flickr set to a folder on my local hard drive — to display them in Preview’s fullscreen view. I found something and used it for some months now — it’s great:

The free PicLens plug-in enables you to:
  • View photos in full screen with a single click
  • Glide between photos from within full screen mode
  • Play a slideshow of image search results and photo albums
  • Browse online photos with your Apple® remote

It works not only on flickr or google — you can easily display images on these sites in fullscreen and flip through them via the arrow keys or your Apple Remote:

  • Flickr
  • Photobucket
  • Facebook
  • Google Images
  • Yahoo Images
  • Ask.com Images

Safari users can download PicLens beta 1 for free as a plugin — versions for Firefox and Internet Explorer are on their way.
