Syncing mobile phones with your Mac just got easier
Late January I wrote a post about iSync phone plugins for the Sony-Ericsson K800i — these are no longer needed to sync this phone (and a couple others) with your mac.
Since today’s update my MacBook Pro runs Mac OS X version 10.4.9 — with it came a fresh delivery of iSync, now version 2.4, with native support to a lot more phones than before, the SE K800i beeing one of them.
And there’s a nice little icon as well

Glad your SE K800i syncs with 10.4.9. Mine, and thousands of others don’t work as a quick look on Google will show you.
Have tried deleting the PhonePlugins folder and all the usual tricks – but no luck.
If you hear of a solution, please let me know!
Thanks
Ian
Hi Ian,
did you try to use PhonePlugins?
I feel sorry for you—it works just perfectly with my setup…
Julian
Hi Julian
I’ve had no trouble syncing my K800i with isync running leopard OS (no plugin required), but I can’t get the all day events to work. I’ve checked on mac help site and there is a posting suggesting that this problem can’t be resolved. All day events in ical have start & end times in K800 and these are 1 hour out. No other sites seem to have info regarding this.
Do you have any suggestions. Would a third party sync program be useful & if so which?
Alan
Unfortunately I have no idea what you could do about this. Since I don’t use the K800i anymore, I also cannot reproduce the problem… Sorry.
Thank you
I believe it is a problem with SE in that it incorrectly reads time zone settings. If I may ask, which phone do you use now? I am due to get a new one in a few month’s time and it would have been SE K850i, but open to suggestions… iPhone camera is crap, so will wait until they fix that before getting one.
Alan
Alan,
I’m using an iPhone now. Compared to the K800i the camera is worse for sure, but provided that the light is okay, it is able to shoot pretty decent pictures as well. It’s okay for a snapshot — for everything else I’ll use my DSLR.
Besides the camera, iPhone is a great device — I highly recommend it. Who knows, maybe there’ll be an iPhone 2 or iPhone Pro this summer?
Julian
Thanks Julian
I use my camera phone at work a lot, would be impractical to carry a separate camera. So no iPhone for me just yet…
I note that the article on Apple’s help site doesn’t mention the K850i as one with the same problem. Maybe it works or maybe they haven’t tested it yet. Will let you know in a few month’s time.
