New iPhone Introduction Video Online

I just saw Apple’s new introductory video on the iPhone—it’s freakin’ amazing! And I’m yet jealous of the people that’ll have the possiblity to get themselves one of these great devices as early as next Friday. I’ll have to wait for Q4 this year—I can only hope this means more like 3 months and not 6.

There are a few things still on my wishlist for the iPhone:

  • GPS: You can see what the Google Maps application is able to do—add a GPS module and you’ll get a full-blown navigation system!
  • More MP: I like the idea of the iPhone beeing the only device I need to carry around on a daily basis. At the moment I need my iPod and my phone—the Sony Ericsson K800i shoots pretty good pictures, so I needn’t take my Canon Ixus with me all the time. I’d like to see a better camera built in to the iPhone!
  • 3G/UMTS/HSDPA: It doesn’t really make sense to sell these technologies in the USA since you can’t use them there, but at least for the European market it is a requirement. Give us hi-speed mobile connections to the internet! And maybe a contract which includes data services that aren’t as expensive as they are today?

I thought about the topic of storage space as well—I’d like to have more of it available on the iPhone. My iPod stores 60GB of content, my MacBook Pro is capable of storing 120GB (which I’m currently considering to upgrade) and my external hard disk has a capacity of 1TB. What the heck am I supposed to do with the 8GB maximum on the iPhone? I cannot store my music, video podcasts and a lot of images on it.

But wait, there’s a feature that compensates this problem: Little storage on the device itself is no longer an issue as soon as you embrace the WiFi capabilities. I’d like to have a unlimited UMTS/HSDPA contract rather than more space on the phone. ’cause as long as there is a decent connection to the internet available, why not stream all your stuff from a server on the web or even your Mac at home?
