Anticipating the iPhone — Bye K800i
Tomorrow will be the day I waited for for eleven months now. Official iPhone Day in Germany!
Steve Jobs had me when he introduced the iPhone on January 11. My excitement grew with the introduction video published on week before they launched sales in the USA and hell, have I been jealous on June 29. On September 17 Apple shared their plans about an iPhone SDK (which will be available in February) with us — I’m looking forward to that, but by now, I’m very excited about tomorrow!
I watched the TV ads, introduction videos and tutorials — and recently also their German counterparts. And they’re pretty crappy compared to the quality of the English versions I’ve been used to before. From what I’ve seen of the German iPhone UI until now, I’m pretty sure I’m going to use it with the language set to “English” — the German one isn’t very well translated (up to now).
Preparations
To make the iPhone activation as smooth as possible I prepared my MacBook Pro a little bit.
- I’m running Leopard since it’s been introduced and hope the iPhone will be able to sync Notes to Mail very soon
- I switched my mail account from POP to IMAP to sync e-mails between my Mac and the iPhone (so that SpamSieve on my MacBook Pro can delete spam mails even when the iPhone already downloaded them)
- I signed up for a .Mac test account to try iPhoneiGTD and its syncing abilities (I’m using iGTD on my Mac for GTD purposes)
Now I’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning… I’m going to be there when they open the doors at the local “T-Punkt” (T-Mobile shop).

The iPhone’s Notes App does not sync with Leopard Mail. The notes you make in Leopard mail sync like an IMAP email on an IMAP folder.
But those are just minor details. The iPhone is incredible.
@Shawn: Yeah, I hope Apple is going to change this behaviour soon. And I’d like to copy and paste on the iPhone.
I’m excited though
I heard the copy and paste option will be available on the second version of the iPhone. Don’t know if its true or not though. tmoblie guy.
